OzTent King Kokoda Chair LTD Review
While camping or traveling anywhere in Australia, you are going to be spending a lot of time sitting down. You could be sitting by the river bank doing a bit of fishing, maybe you’re sitting around the campfire, or you might be looking up into the clear outback sky at night enjoying the stars. So with all this time spent sitting down, you might as well do it in comfort.
When choosing a camping chair, I had a few basic criteria:
1.) Sturdy – I am a big lad of 140kg+ so the chair needs to be rated to hold a fair weight and be sturdy enough to cop being thrown into the back of the camper trailer and bouncing around on corrugated roads.
2.) Comfort – Just because you are camping doesn’t mean you can’t feel completely comfortable. In choosing a camp chair, you have to feel completely comfortable sitting in it.
3.) Storage – Storage space is one of the biggest restrictions when going camping or traveling. In our case, our chairs need to fold up small enough to fit in the long, thin space I have left for them in our camper trailer.
So how does the OzTent King Kokoda Chair LTD stack up against my criteria?
We bought the chair 6 months ago and have used it extensively in our travels. As yet it has not failed structurally in any way. There is no damage to the joints or the material.
The chair is quite wide. A lot wider than a standard camping chair. This makes it comfortable and roomy, even for a large lad like me. The arm rests are made from aluminium and therefore are solid. In this way the OzTent King Kokoda LTD is different to many camping chairs that have simple canvas material arm rests. The arm rests make the chair feel more sturdy and lock it in place really well when it is set up.
When folding up the chair to be packed in the camper trailer, you simply unlatch two little clips then fold it down. It folds down to something the height of a cricket bat, but the width of a house brick.
What don’t I like about the chair?
The big one is the lack of a convenient drink holder. Because the arm rests are solid, there is no room for a drink holder. There is a drink holder located in a little flap that hangs down below the seat on the side. It’s never been used because you need two hands to use it.
In summary, I very much like the OzTent King Kokoda LTD Camping Chair. I would have no problem recommending it to anyone looking for a big, sturdy camping chair.
